Event information
The Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) is hosting a special Victorian Law Week edition of the Urban Campfire exhibition launch, marking the opening of the next exhibition in this long‑standing community arts program. This event invites people to come together to celebrate creativity and connect with the justice system in a positive and accessible way.
Curated by Dr Paula Mahoney, Urban Campfire showcases artwork by local residents displayed throughout the NJC. Featured artists include people with lived experience of the justice system, providing a platform for voices and stories that are often underrepresented. For many participants, this exhibition marks their first opportunity to publicly share their work and engage with the wider community.
The launch provides an inclusive space for artists, community members, and local services to connect, strengthening relationships across the City of Yarra and increasing awareness of the NJC and the supports available, including legal assistance.
All are welcome, including local residents, community members, and professionals interested in art, justice, and community engagement. Attendees are encouraged to step inside the Centre, explore the exhibition, enjoy a live music performance, and connect with the stories that shape people’s experiences of the justice system.
