Event information

As part of Law Week, The Prison Network and Beyond The Stone Walls Advisory Collectives (BSWAC) Human Library invite you to 'borrow' a living book.

Our 'books' are real people — individuals who have experienced incarceration, educators, students, and those working within the justice system — who volunteer to share their personal stories in one-on-one conversations.

You can choose a 'book' and engage in two rounds of a 30-minute conversation .

  • get to know a living 'book'
  • have a respectful and curious conversation
  • break down stereotypes, reduce stigma, and build a better understanding of the justice system and the people connected to it

This isn't about advice or invasive questions, it's about respectful, curious conversation.

Whether you're a student, professional, policymaker, or community member. You'll walk away with deeper insights and a stronger appreciation of the power of listening.

Join us in creating a safe space where real stories challenge prejudice and spark genuine connection.
