Event information

The Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) will open its doors during Law Week for a guided site visit and tour. The NJC is Australia’s first community justice centre, located in the heart of Collingwood. Join us to learn more about the NJC’s approach to community justice and the range of work delivered on site, including our Magistrates' Court, community lawyers, support services, peacemaking, community engagement and crime prevention initiatives.

The session will include an overview of how the NJC works, followed by a guided tour of the building and an opportunity to hear from staff working across the space. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how the justice system operates in a community setting, and how different parts of the Centre work together to respond to the underlying causes of offending and the needs of the local community.

Whether you're a student, stakeholder or a member of the community, anyone interested in community justice, social support services or innovative approaches to crime and safety is welcome to attend. If you've been wanting to visit, or have heard about the NJC but never stepped inside, now is your chance.
