Event information

This interactive session is designed to empower young people with a clear understanding of their rights and responsibilities when interacting with police and other authority figures.

A lawyer and a social worker will jointly present practical, easy‑to‑understand information about what young people can and cannot do when dealing with police and other authorities. The session will include discussion and activities to encourage engagement and help participants build confidence in real‑life situations.

Both the lawyer and social worker will remain onsite after the presentation and will be available to speak privately with young people if requested. This ensures attendees can ask questions or seek guidance in a safe and supportive environment.

The event will also include a representative from headspace Dandenong, along with the host organisation, YSAS Dandenong. Participants will learn how to find legal help and support if things go wrong and where to turn for assistance.

This session aims to equip young people with practical legal knowledge, reduce fear or confusion, and encourage informed, confident interactions with authorities.
