Event information

Residential tenancy issues are one of the most common legal challenges faced by Victorians, often resulting in stress, delays, and expense. In 2025, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) introduced Rental Dispute Resolution Victoria (RDRV), a new fast, fair, and free way to resolve many tenancy disputes.

In this special Law Week event, leaders from VCAT and the Warren Centre for Civil Justice at Monash University will be in conversation about how RDRV operates and how it is reshaping the way tenancy disputes are resolved. The session will explain how appropriate dispute resolution can reduce time, cost, and stress, and what this approach means for the Victorian community.

Participants will learn how renters and rental providers can use RDRV, when it is appropriate, and how it fits within the broader dispute resolution system. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

This session is suitable for renters, rental providers, community workers, and anyone interested in understanding one of Victoria’s most significant recent reforms in dispute resolution.
