Event information

This webinar provides a practical introduction to protest rights in Victoria, with a focus on interactions with police and recent changes to protest‑related offences.

Designed for the general public, the session helps participants understand what they can and cannot do at protests, how to respond to the exercise of police powers, and how new laws affect protest activity.

Attendees will gain clear, plain‑language information about their legal rights when protesting, police powers and common tactics, and new protest offences introduced in Victoria and how they interact with existing laws.

The webinar will be delivered by Fitzroy Legal Service and Melbourne Activist Legal Support (MALS). There will be time for general questions at the end of the session. Please note that this session provides legal information only and does not constitute legal advice.
