Event information

Q+Law is a free, state‑wide legal service for LGBTIQA+SB people in Victoria. It provides a safer, accessible, and affirming entry point for individuals seeking legal information, advice, or referrals to culturally appropriate support services.

In this comprehensive session, a lawyer from Q+Law will guide participants step by step through the process of applying to change their legal name and/or record of sex in Victoria. The information will be tailored to the needs of trans and gender diverse communities and presented in clear, easy‑to‑understand language.

By the end of the session, participants will understand:

  • When you can change your legal name and sex marker
  • What documents are required for the application
  • Expected timelines and what to anticipate during the process
  • Where to access further help and support

This session provides general legal information only. The lawyer will not be able to give personalised legal advice. To seek individual advice, participants are encouraged to contact Q+Law by completing the intake form on their website or calling (03) 9968 1002.
