Event information

Law and Life: Community Legal Conversations is a community‑focused workshop designed to strengthen public understanding of legal rights and responsibilities in everyday life.

Delivered as part of Law Week 2026, the session provides an accessible and welcoming forum to explore common legal issues faced by families, individuals, and vulnerable community members. The aim is to empower participants with practical legal knowledge, increase awareness of available services, and encourage early action before legal problems escalate.

In small rural towns, access to legal education can be limited. For refugee and migrant communities, such as the Karen community, additional barriers can make it even harder to find trustworthy legal information. This project will support our regional settlement staff and help families build confidence in navigating Australia’s legal systems.

Representatives from Allied Justice will deliver community education and facilitate a Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and receive clear, practical guidance.

This session is free and open to the whole community, with interpreter assistance available.
