Event information

Many small towns, including Girgarre, are supported by community groups and organisations run by volunteer committees. But what does it really mean to be a member of an incorporated committee, and what legal responsibilities does that involve?

This free Law Week information session will feature a lawyer in attendance to explain the legal aspects of incorporated committees and answer questions in a clear, practical way.

Members of the Girgarre Community Cottage committee will attend to build stronger governance and legal understanding. The session also welcomes anyone in the community who is currently involved in a committee, thinking about joining one, or wanting to upskill their knowledge.

The information provided will be general in nature and suitable for people seeking an introduction rather than detailed legal advice. This session is open to all and aims to support confident, informed participation in community organisations.

Light lunch, tea & coffee will be provided.
