Event information

Insurance is your safety net - but do you know if it’s strong enough? With increasing climate and disaster risks, understanding exactly what your insurance policy covers has never been more important.

Presented by Gippsland Community Legal Service, this practical workshop breaks down the “legalese” found in home, contents, and farm insurance policies. The session will explain the difference between sum insured and total replacement cover, how to identify whether you may be underinsured, and common exclusions to watch out for.

This is a hands‑on session. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own insurance certificates or policy documents for a guided walkthrough of key terms and conditions. The workshop will also outline what to do after a disaster, including how to lodge a claim, what to expect from cash settlements, how disputes are handled, and important time limits.

Whether you are reviewing your current insurance or dealing with a pending claim, this session provides clear legal information and local support to help you make informed decisions and protect your future.
