Join Deakin Law School for a Vic Law Week 2026 professional learning event designed specifically for secondary teachers of Legal Studies, Civics and Citizenship, Humanities, and Social Education. This engaging session will support teachers to strengthen curriculum‑aligned legal knowledge while exploring contemporary legal issues and teaching approaches.
This event brings together key areas of senior secondary legal education, with a focus on constitutional law, modern human rights, and innovative approaches within Victoria’s justice system. Sessions will connect legal theory to real‑world practice, offering practical insights and classroom‑ready ideas.
Key Focus Areas
Participants will explore:
- Constitutional law
- Including constitutional conventions, the division of powers, and section 109 of the Australian Constitution, with a focus on Years 11–12 curriculum alignment.
- Modern human rights
- Examining the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities, relevant international instruments, and contemporary case studies.
